Overboard (1987)

Overboard (1987)
Joanna, a spoiled heiress who’s used to having her way with everything, runs afoul of Dean Proffitt, a carpenter raising four boys, when she refuses to pay for work he was contracted to do on her yacht. When Joanna accidentally falls overboard into the water, resulting in memory loss, Dean seizes the opportunity for payback by convincing her they were not only married and living in squalor with the four rambunctious boys. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching 1987’s “Overboard”.

· Near the beginning of the movie, Joanna is on the boat’s deck laying on the lounge chair with the radio playing while Grant is practicing with his bow and arrow. In the close-up view of Grant with the arrow at his arms, there is a small suction cup at the end of the arrow. In the farther view, when Grant fires the arrow, the suction cup is noticeably larger.

· Joanna is making sandwiches for the boys’ school lunch. The jar of mayo is on the farther end of the counter with the blue top on it as she’s making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It cuts to a close-up, overhead view of the counter and the mayo jar is open in front of her. The scene cuts back to the original view when Joanna calls for “Roy”, and the mayo jar is back at the other end with the top on.

· Joanna is notified about the boys’ behavior at school. When she walks into the class, her purse strap is on her right shoulder. In the rear view, when she introduces herself to the teacher, her purse strap is off, and she’s carrying her bag. It cuts to a different view and the purse straps are back on her shoulder.

“Overboard” (1987) stars Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell, Edward Herrmann, Katherine Helmond, Mike Hagerty, Roddy McDowall and Jared Rushton. It runs 112 minutes and is rated PG for mild language.
